Chapter 1

RETROSPECTIVE

Ebon hopped in to the back of the overturned armoured truck. He chuckled to himself on a job well done, taking his time to grab the large bags of money that were scattered throughout the truck. He saw one of the security guards starting to recover and pitied the poor man. The guard frantically searched for his side arm as he saw the pitch black skinned robber aproaching him. He grew nervous as he couldn't find it, settling on throwing his night stick that was still at his side...only to watch it pass right through the villian.

Ebon enjoyed the expression on the helpless guard as the weapon passed right through his shadow-like skin. He stood over the guard and was about to take a swing when something landed heavily on the top of the truck. Shit Ebon though to himself, heroes already? As he turned his head to see if anyone came through the opening he saw the quick flash of a punch jabbing in to the side of his head, sending him towards the front end of the truck. Ebon passed right through the truck and was soon back on his feet to see the attacker, instantly recognizing the goat horned helmet atop the heroes head. `Freedom! That explains how you were able to hit me...and if you're here then your leash holders probably aren't far” Ebon stood back up, charging towards the blue and red coloured Everlasting freedom, his fist disappearing and reappearing close to Freedom's face, though the hero countered, moving to the side and grabbing Ebon's wrist, using the momentum to trip the villain, sending Ebon flying out the back of the truck, landing on the concrete road.

“Give up Ebon! You know your powers are useless against my fists. Hand yourself in to the authorities and I'll save you the embarrassment of a beating”, Freedom shouted. He was about to throw another insult when he heard the ground below him rumble, a rock shard shooting from the ground under his feet, sending him flying, his regenerative ability already kicking in as he landed heavily on the ground. He didn't have much chance of recovery as he felt the heavy boot of Ebon stepping on his chest, making him cough.

Ebon leaned heavily on his leg smiling at the hero underneath. `Your right hero, i can't beat you, not by myself at least. Your first mistake was not thinking about how the truck was overturned but I'm sure it's clear to you now”. Ebon waved his accomplish over but Freedom already knew who it was, the living plant Fleur. Ebon's attention was soon redirected to the sky as a hail of bullets soared towards him. They simply passed through his shadow skin but it gave Freedom the opportunity he needed as he grabbed the boot and pushed Ebon off enough to roll away and flip back in to a combat stance, now facing the green plant Fleur. Ebon cursed as his victim rolled away, “I see the leash holders are already here Freedom”, as he finished talking more rounds were fired off from the sky, none other than Chrome Stargazer himself soaring behind the rounds.

Stargazer hadn't realized the target was Ebon and switched rounds to flash bangs. He watched the rounds land around Ebon, blinding and making the villain shut his eyes in agony. “Awww is Mr. Sensitive hurt by a bit of light?” Stargazer yelled jeeringly as he fired off a few more flash bang rounds, knowing that by staying in the air Ebon wouldn't be able to fight back.

La Fleur growled, her leafing going from a passive green colour to a moody black colour. She faced down Everlasting, her fist becoming incased in stone just as she punched the ground, another shard shooting from the ground underneath Freedom. This time Freedom was ready and quickly rolled away. He was having troubles closing in on his adversary, kept at bay by the field of living vines in the way. To make matters worse he felt something clamp down on his leg. He looked down to see what it was, frantically trying to pull his leg out as he saw that it was the large mouth of a venus fly trap around his leg. Fleur seized the initiative, wanting to help Ebon, and through a boulder larger than herself at the cocky Stargazer.

Stargazer was still pinning down Ebon, now trying to do trick shots and flips in the air to add a bit of challenge. That was until he felt the boulder slam in to his body, sending him flying in to the side of a building. Fortunatly for Stargazer he was caught right before impact by Chrome Star.

Chrome Star saw his companion in trouble and leapt, catching the miscrient Stargazer and dumping him unceremoniously on the ground. Star then unsheathed his katana and zipped over to help Freedom, severing the fly trap at the neck. Freedom broke free, flying over the field of carrion vines, rolling in the air as the plants shot out of the ground like geysers. Once Freedom was overtop of Fleur he dropped down, punching through the jagged rock that Fleur had sent flying his way. Freedom landed on one knee, rising up and ready to strike again, only to watch Fleur dissapear through the shadows with Ebon, both villians disappearing from the scene.

Star and Stargazer landed neatly next to Freedom, wiping themselves down. Stargazer was soon on his RETROSPECTIVE communicator as more trouble was close at hand....

Chapter 2

Vengful Abyss pounded on the police chief''s desk, nearly braking the wooden furniture in half with his strength. “A prisoner transfer? Who the hell did they capture?”, Abyss said loudly, daring anyone nearby to look him in the eyes. The police chief kept his cool, having dealt with hot headed heroes many times. “Calm down, they have Destello and they want to trade him for Deon Moo-”, the police chief was stopped cold in his sentence as this time Abyss smashed clean through the desk. “Deon Moore?!”, Abyss spat, “Do you have any idea how long it took to put that man behind bars? Most of RETROSPECTIVE is still recovering from their wounds!”.

The chief stood up and walked over to the window, peering at the tall skscraper that was surrounded by PPD choppers and ground support, the spotlights scanning the building for signs of life. That was where the big time villains had Destello under lock and key, he couldn't risk sending anyone in as it was much too dangerous, even more so than Abyss' anger. He had a tough choice to make, either hand over one of the biggest names known in the rogue isles or try to stop the three villians holding the building. He checked the confirmed names on the list in his hands. Death captain, Mr Nero and the nercomancer known as Death's reject. The necromancer alone had full control of the building with a hoarde of zombie minions which was hard enough without the big time villians Death Captain and Mr Nero, both of whom were Deon Moore's elite villian goons. He turned to face Vengful Abyss but the hero was already out the door.

Abyss opened up his RETROSPECTIVE communicator, having finally gotten a hold of Chrome Star, Chrome Stargazer and Everlasting Freedom who had all been busy with other villian activities while the Deon-Destello trade was being negotiated. “You have to get every RETROSPECTIVE members available down here Star! This is big! We have a chance to nab Mr. Nero AND Death Captain, chances like these don't come often ya know”. Abyss argued, hoping that the chromes would jump in to action straight away.
